Our system is unable to read text in 8-bit proprietary ASCII fonts in your language.

The regional language fonts used in your document are likely not Unicode (a standard for representing characters as integers) compliant.

They could be 8-bit proprietary ASCII fonts. ASCII is a set of digital codes for letters, numbers, and other symbols used in the transfer of text between computers.

Unicode is standardized for regional languages; ASCII is not. Our system is Unicode-compliant, and it is unable to read ASCII fonts.

To fix this, convert your document into Unicode and try to resubmit it.

There are tools available to type directly in Unicode as well. If you need professional assistance to convert the manuscript into Unicode, choose one of these conversion services.

Unicode format which has encoding error.

1. Create a new Word document.
2. Change the settings to UNICODE format.
3. Copy the content from the old file and paste it in the new file.
4. Save this file and resubmit.

Language tag is different from the content in the sections/pages with content in multiple languages. Please update each section's language tag to match your chosen book language and resubmit.

If more than 60% of the content inside the book is in English, select the book language as English from the dropdown menu in your Bookshelf.

This error appears if less than half of your book's content is in the language you choose.

Content type

Please upload a reflowable source file. Reflowable books provide the best reading experience since they automatically resize to fit the reader's screen.

Data tables with more than 50 rows or 5 columns

We don't support tables larger than this. Please split larger tables into smaller ones.

Empty lists

Remove any empty lists from your file and replace them with blank lines.

Images with wrapped text not set as "inline"

Insert the image again and change your document settings from "Wrap Text" to "Inline with Text."

Text scanned as images

Do not upload reflowable text as scanned images. Wherever possible, type all the text in your manuscript.

Conversion time-out error

Sometimes network or connectivity issues may lead to conversion failure when uploading files. Please try resubmitting the file.

Change your document settings from "Wrap Text" to "Inline with Text."

Wrapped text in tables not set as "Inline with Text"

Remove wrapped text from your tables.

Images not in JPG or PNG

Please ensure that your images are all in .JPEG and .PNG format.

Fully transcripted books

Content should be created using the regional language, we don't support books created using English or foreign language script. Example: Hindi book transcripted using English words.

Corrupted source

Corrupted source might be due to following reason: A format could have been renamed to another format and uploaded. To avoid this, please upload the file in this format: titlename.doc / titlename.epub / titlename.docx.

Comic or image books

Full document should be created only using images with 0% reflowable content.

Fixed-format HTML tag

We do not support the "Fixed Layout" tag in Open Packaging Format files (.opf).

Images mis-aligned

Make sure to set the alignment in Microsoft Word instead of dragging an image.

Text mis-aligned

Use Microsoft Word's alignment settings to correct alignment errors.

Images that should be on multiple pages are packed onto one page

Place a page break in between images to put each one on a separate page.

Letters or other characters appear as empty boxes or other unrecognizable symbols

Documents converted from PDF files using OCR software often cause characters not being displayed properly. Do not use OCR software to convert PDF files into Word files.
